introducing wooden furniture into your space
1. How to acclimatise wood
We’re so happy you’ve chosen one of our pieces! To help your new wooden furniture adjust smoothly to its new home — and stay in great condition — here are a few simple but important tips:
Give it time to adjust
Wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity. To help it settle in:
- Keep the room temperature steady and avoid turning up the heating too high for at least the first 3 weeks.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, both now and in the long term.
Watch out for heat sources
- Keep your furniture away from radiators, heaters, or other heat sources — especially in the first few weeks.
- A hot, dry environment can cause wood to shrink, while a damp environment can make it swell. Sudden changes can lead to small cracks or movement in the wood.
Rest assured
We take great care when crafting your furniture to minimize movement, but following these steps will help it stay at its best.

2.HOW TO CARE FOR SOLID WOOD FUNITURE

DAILY CARE TIPS
CARING FOR YOUR SOLID OAK, BIRCH PLY OR RECLAIMED WOOD TOP
- Use place mats, protective covers or coasters on your dining table or desk
- Protect the surface from liquids - immediately wipe dry any spillage
- Protect your surface from heat.
- Use a soft sponge or dish cloth to clean your surface (avoid abrasive sponges).
- Wipe your surface with a lightly damp sponge or cloth using warm water (harsh chemicals, or strong cleaners can strip the natural oils on your table).
- Straight after cleaning, thoroughly dry your surface.

extra care tips
Extending the life of the surface finish
- About every 2 - 6 weeks (depending on use), use a silicone-free furniture wax spray. Spray onto a cloth (not directly on the surface), wipe over the table, and buff to a soft finish. Use after a thorough wipe-down of your table, desk or bench.
- Most of our furniture is protected with Treatex Hardwax Oil, an eco-friendly blend of natural oils and waxes. This is a natural product that protects the wood and allows it to "breath".
- In about a year to two, you can apply a fresh coat. Check Treatex’s site for more advice:
