introducing wooden furniture into your space
acclimatising wood
We’re so happy you’ve chosen one of our pieces! To help your new wooden furniture adjust smoothly to its new home — and stay in great condition — here are a few simple but important tips:
Give it time to adjust
Wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity. To help it settle in:
- Keep the room temperature steady and avoid turning up the heating too high for at least the first 3 weeks.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, both now and in the long term.
Watch out for heat sources
- Keep your furniture away from radiators, heaters, or other heat sources — especially in the first few weeks.
- A hot, dry environment can cause wood to shrink, while a damp environment can make it swell. Sudden changes can lead to small cracks or movement in the wood.
Rest assured
We take great care when crafting your furniture to minimize movement, but following these steps will help it stay at its best.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR FURNITURE LOOKING BEAUTIFUL FOR YEARS TO COME
Caring for Wooden furniture

Daily cleaning
- Wipe with a lightly damp, soft cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals, or strong cleaners — they can strip the natural oils.
- Always use coasters, placemats, or protective covers to guard against heat, liquid, and messy activities.

For extra care
- Use a silicone-free furniture wax spray. Spray onto a cloth (not directly on the surface), wipe over the table, and buff to a soft finish.
- Most of our tables are protected with Treatex Hardwax Oil, an eco-friendly blend of natural oils and waxes.
- In about a year, you can apply a fresh coat. Check Treatex’s site for more advice:

For customers outside of the UK: Look for a locally made Hard Wax Oil as a great natural alternative!
